ABOUT US

The Great Barrington Library Fund (GBLF) was founded in 2024 as a MA non-profit corporation to help raise funds for our libraries, spurred by the critical need to renovate Ramsdell Library in the village of Housatonic within the town of Great Barrington.

Our Libraries

RAMSDELL LIBRARY

Ramsdell Library was deeded to the inhabitants of Great Barrington to ‘forever hold, support and maintain the property’ by the family of Theodore Ramsdell.

MASON LIBRARY

Designed by Blanchard & Barnes of New York and built in 1913, the Mason Library was made possible by a bequest of Mary A. Mason of in memory of her husband, Henry Hobart Mason.

On January 13th, 2025, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners announced winners of its coveted building grant. Great Barrington’s Ramsdell Library building was awarded $100,000 which may be used for schematic design, cost analysis of options, site investigation, and project management services.
The Ramsdell Building Advisory Committee has been formed to assist in the design of a modern, progressive, next-generation library.
Architecture Firm Contracted for Ramsdell Library Design and Planning Great Barrington, MA — The Ramsdell Building Committee of the Town of Great Barrington announces its selection of Perry Dean Rogers Partners Architects of 177 Milk Street, Boston, for the Planning and Design Phase of renovating Ramsdell Library.
